The Election

I’ve been real quiet lately. Haven’t said a word about the election; in fact, I haven’t said much of anything. The truth is, I’ve been holding my breath in hope and trepidation.

With the voting machines easily hackable by the party in power, giving no paper trail, I fully expected the Republicans to deliver a surprise victory, in spite of the polls. I was sure they would exploit that vulnerability…and I’m certain they did - but the public’s desire to be rid of these corrupt sons of bitches was so overwhelming, they just couldn’t pull it off. Too many votes to change. And the bad guys are out on their asses. Most of ‘em.

I don’t have much faith in what had been the Democratic Party, but there looks to be life in some of the new players. I hope I’m not being naive. The thing of it is though, even if the Dems do nothing, mathematically that puts us way ahead of the damage the monsters would have done. Zero is bigger than a large negative and the neo-cons had been systematically raping America. The corruption was unbridled, unprecedented and incomprehensible.

We’re not out of the woods yet; the bastards won’t be moving out of their offices for a while and Bush will remain in power for another two years. Still, I feel like I’ve got my country back. I feel like I’m dreaming.
